The Best Burgers in Metro Manila

Pam Ortiz Lists

When I was in elementary, my cousins and I always ordered from either Jollibee or McDo for merienda after we get home. Quite unhealthy, yes, but for some reason it became a routine. Lol. There was one whole week wherein we ordered only from Jollibee, and I ordered the same thing for five consecutive days: their Regular Yum with Cheese. We all know how simple this burger is, but it tastes reeeally good for just a few bucks.

This particular week that I mentioned was pretty memorable because of a couple of things: I discovered my love for burgers (I felt sad whenever I’m down to my last Yum Burger bite); and my Lolo scolded me for eating too much burgers (and I got too upset about it lol).

Now that I’m “all grown up” (lol) I’ve discovered other great-tasting burgers besides the Jollibee Yum Burger, and I learned how eating a burger every day can ruin your health. Hahaha. But for now, let’s just talk about the meaty and juicy goodness of these burgers:

  1. Pound: Amsterdam Burger
  2. In general, Pound’s beef patty’s full of flavor, it can satisfy your meat cravings on your first bite. But for me, Amsterdam is their best burger creation mostly because of the combination of fried onion, their delicious patty, and pastrami.

Oh, and just a heads up— most of their burgers have mustard relish, and their T.E. sauce might disappoint those who dislike mayonnaise. So if you’re not a fan of mustard and/or mayonnaise, just tell your server to put them on the side. (Thanks to my sister who hates sour dressings/sauces, I had to include this “warning” lol)

Pound is originally located along Bonifacio High Street, but they recently opened another branch in SM Megamall. They also have two more branches opening soon in Eastwood Mall and Robinsons Place Manila, respectively.

  3. Lazy Bastard: Bacon Cheeseburger
  4. Lazy Bastard’s burger patties are charcoal-grilled, and they rest between a pair of soft and buttery potato buns. Yum! A simple hamburger could already make our tummies happy. But what if they added some crispy bacon and oozing cheese?? I’d repeat my burger-every-day-for-one-whole-week for this.

Lazy Bastard can be found along Jupiter Street (near Yamato Bakery) in Makati, and they have another branch in UP Town Center.

  5. Pink’s: Chili Cheeseburger
  6. In the first few times we dined at Pink’s, we always had their hotdogs (which are delicious, by the way) only. But during our last visit, I’m glad that I finally tried one of their burgers! The super juicy burger patty + melted cheese + “Pink’s famous chili” combination is soooo good.

You can find Pink’s at Shangri-La at the Fort.

  7. Sweet Ecstasy: Cheeseburger
  8. Not sure if it’s just me and my small mouth, but I usually have to consume my burger using a fork and knife. This makes me a little sad because I think it’s more exciting to savor the burger by directly munching on it. Lol. Well, I bet Sweet Ecstasy thinks the same way— the size of their burgers is just right, you won’t need any utensils.

    Cheeseburger (Php 195)

Yes, their burgers are relatively smaller, but every bite is exploding with flavor, and they will still leave you 110% satisfied.

Sweet Ecstasy is located at Jupiter cor. Asteroid Street in Makati. They recently opened another branch at Uptown Parade in BGC.

  9. 8 Cuts: Shroom Burger
  10. I’ve been a fan of 8 Cuts since college, for they’ve been really consistent in serving super beefy patties, regardless of the type of meat that you choose. Recently, though, they cut down the burger patty choices to just two— House and Grass Fed. And to probably compensate for that, they’ve expanded the selection of their burger specialties. This includes the Shroom, which I like the most because it has black truffle aioli. Plus, it’s not that easy to find a burger with a hint of truffle here in Metro Manila.

Shroom (Php 295 for ¼lb / Php 345 for ⅓lb)

8 Cuts currently has nine branches located at SM Megamall, Alabang Town Center, Eastwood Mall, Greenhills Promenade, Serendra, Power Plant Mall, SM Mall of Asia, Greenbelt 2, and along Leviste Street in Makati.
