Ingredients
450g thinly sliced beef
1 yellow onion, sliced
1 cup dashi stock *Note 1
4 tbsp mirin *Note 2
4 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp green onion, chopped
2 eggs
2 cups steamed rice
Directions
- Add dashi stock, mirin, soy sauce, and sugar to a saucepan set over medium heat. Cover and bring to a boil.
- Add onion slices, slightly stir, and cover. Cook until translucent.
- Add beef, and cook until tender.
- Serve over steamed rice. Top with egg, and sprinkle over chopped green onions.
Notes
- 1: No dashi stock? Use chicken broth instead, and reduce brown sugar to 1 tbsp.
- 2: No mirin? Use dry white wine or rice vinegar instead. To counteract the sourness, add 1/2 tsp sugar for every tbsp.
