  • Burger Patty
  • 250g ground beef

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp garlic powder

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 2 tsp pepper

  • Topping: Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1/2 cup water

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 2 tsp minced garlic

  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste

  • 1 tbsp cake flour

  • 2 tbsp cold water

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

  • Topping: Mushroom
  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1/2 cup mushroom slices

Directions

  • Prepare the Burger Patty
  • Place ground beef in a medium bowl and add egg. Mix well using a fork or a wooden spoon.
  • Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until fully combined.
  • Divide the mixture into two. Shape each half into a ball, then slightly flatten it until it forms into a patty.
  • Refrigerate the patties while doing the teriyaki sauce.
  • Make the Teriyaki Sauce
  • Heat saucepan on medium. Add water, sugar, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger, then stir until homogeneous.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together cake flour and cold water.
  • Add the flour mixture to the saucepan and stir well. Continue to heat the sauce until it thickens.
  • When done, transfer sauce to cool. Add sesame seeds and set aside.
  • Bring out the burger patties from the refrigerator and set aside.
  • Sauté the Mushrooms
  • Add butter in a medium pan and set over high heat.
  • Add mushrooms, and sauté until browned. Set aside.
  • Assemble the Burger
  • Using the same pan, cook the burger patties over high heat for around three minutes, or until the first side is slightly charred.
  • Flip patties over and cook until desired doneness. *Note 1
  • Place burger patty on your bun of preference. *Note 2
  • Place cheese slice and press slightly onto the patty.
  • Add mushrooms, and drizzle with teriyaki sauce.

Notes

  • 1: Four minutes for medium rare.
  • 2: You could use brioche, english muffins, lettuce, sandwich bread…you could even go bunless. For this recipe, I used brioche buns. Check out the recipe here!
